About Amanda Stock

At the age of 15, my dad gave me his old Canon AE-1. I remember standing out in the backyard and pointing it up towards a palm tree. I heard that shutter release and I instantly fell in love. I built my first website that year to showcase my photography work. I coded it by hand in HTML, because this was before tools like WordPress were available.

As a teenager, when I started photographing more than I could afford in film I began my career in marketing. I quickly excelled in the marketing industry, gaining extensive experience in online marketing. I began building websites with WordPress in 2005 and have studied business and web development in college. I have worked extensively for top internet marketing agencies and freelanced with my own clients. In addition to hundreds of service providers, like doctors, landscapers and web designers, I have worked with major brands such as WD-40 and Columbia University. I loved seeing my client’s businesses grow and prosper using the power of the internet and effective marketing. All the while, photography was my favorite hobby and I photographed as many people as I could. 


After I switched to digital photography, upgraded to top of the line equipment and after a lot of experimenting in both business and photography, I started photographing for clients full time. Along the way, I have found I love writing, teaching and photography. I can't think of a better way to satisfy all of those interests than helping new photographers build their businesses by pulling from my background in marketing and experience running my own businesses. My book Start a Successful Photography Business in 34 Days was published in May 2013, and has been #1 on the Amazon best sellers list for professional photography ever since.
